It started with a dust cloud.

Every time we poured litter, the same thing happened — a grey haze in the air, grit on the floor, a cat sneezing in the corner. We tried clay. We tried crystals. We tried the expensive stuff with the nice packaging. Something was always off: too dusty, too smelly, or too rough on paws. And almost all of it ended up in landfill.

So we stopped shopping and started looking for a better base material.

Why tofu, of all things.

The answer turned out to be sitting in the food industry already. Okara — the soy pulp left behind when tofu is made — is soft, wildly absorbent, and completely biodegradable. It's food-grade, which means it's non-toxic if a curious kitten has a nibble. No silica. No clay. No synthetic clumping agents.

We pressed it into granules and started testing. Then kept testing. It took months of tweaking density, granule size and charcoal ratios before we had something we were happy to put in front of our own cats.
